The PEZ Outlaw is a hit on NETFLIX and has propelled PEZ, once again, back into the cultural conversation. Austrian food executive Edward Haas III didn’t intend for his mint to become a candy, much less a toy. But as it turned out, PEZ became the TOY THAT GIVES YOU CANDY! To a kid, what could be better than that!? Its evolution from a mint for smoking cessation to a candy dispensing sensation i...

From Electric Novelty to National Pastime: 123 Years of Lionel Trains | Where's the Fun from?
Переглядів 24 тис.Рік тому
The Father of Lionel Trains was Joshua Lionel Cowen (originally Cohen), who was born in Manhattan on August 25, 1877. When Joshua was just 5 years old, Thomas Edison formed the Edison Electric Illuminating Company of New York, to bring his Incandescent Light Bulb to parts of Manhattan. The Electrical Age had begun. In 1900, as the electric frontier dawned, 23 year old Joshua Lionel Cowen formed...
Christmas Comes But Once A Year

This channel is dedicated to Toy Inventors, so when I ran across this 1936 Christmas classic by Max Fleischer, I knew I had to share it. The cartoon opens at an orphanage on Christmas morning where the kids play with old toys that quickly break. Enter "Professor Grampy - Inventor," who hears the cries of the kids and saves the day through his ingenuity. I love what I do for a living and more th...

The Slinky story doesn’t start with Betty James, but it sure doesn’t unfold the same without her. She named the toy in 1945, saved it in 1960, gave it a jingle in 1962 and promoted it for 63 years. It all started when her husband, engineer Richard James, brought home a spring and worked to make it walk. This is the Slinky edition of Where’s the Fun from? Great series You have a new subscriber! I believe Jenga inspired many game designers around the world. Greetings from Bulgaria 🇧🇬 And from a game called GEMJI :)
I rode my big wheel till the front tire got a flat spot on it from braking. Kept on riding it. I still miss it.
My family has the cards that are the second addition/after the green ones. We don't have the box anymore but what years did they make those ones? If i am correct the package stayed the same after the green until Mattel bought it?
Memories 😂 I had one of those early models and my favorite uncle assembled it for me, bless his soul!
I got the Batman one in 1989 🥰
For some reason this brought tears to my eyes.
Red Rocker: Hey! He was talking to me!
I had big wheel just like this one, back in 1978. was just 5 years old. Unfortunately, about 3 years later, someone stole it from my front yard.
Noooooo! Sorry to hear that, Paul. Thanks for watching
I had one of those, the best childhood memories of that thing
Me too! Thanks for watching

Wow, those teachers and priests must have been some unhappy people. Guess they've never hugged a teddy bear.
Right?! Thanks for watching
Your channel is such a gem! I hope your work (on the channel and eveywhere else) soon gets the recognition it deserves!
Thanks much!
I've seen ads that say that a Big Wheel has a safer center of gravity and safer turns than a traditional tricycle.
I tried to flip mine everyday for an entire summer and couldn’t do it!
Thx for having all these great toys displayed on youtube 🫶🍻🫶
You’re welcome. Come on over and play anytime
Well produced video with great content. I also learned something from the folks in the comments. I did not know that Germans placed small things like villages under the tree and steam powered trains under their trees. Very interesting.
Thanks! Yes, I am in awe of the community being built here. I learned a lot in the comments too. Thanks for watching
I would've loved an adult sized Big Wheel!
Just got this game and beat my partner EVERY TIME (I was RED)
Oh yeah! Glad to hear you had fun!
Yo vi que en la pantalla del video yo vi que el señor cara de papa del año 1983 abrazó un señor cara de papa de 1952😮😮😮😮😂😂😂
This brings me to tears!! I love it.

Man I’d like to eat some pez right about now.
Ha Ha! Addictive little treat, right?
Thank you, Merle, for having the courage in your convictions. RIP.
I am curious how you found out all of this info? I am thinking of making a doc about Uno. Would you be able to connect with me?
Sorry, I don't come on here as much as I should! Sure thing, email me. tim(at)theplaymakers.com. I wrote the book, Timeless Toys in 2005 and interviewed John Robbins (Merl's son), Ed Akeman and even Bob Tezak (through letters). It's a great story, the story of Uno!
I collect Candy Land merchandise. Now I have to keep an eye out for a version with the boy with the brace. How interesting!
Cool! Good luck and have fun!
I collect, I have around 1000.
Awesome!
Uno is the best card game ever invented
I concur!
Excellent presentation Tim. I'm on my fourth viewing.
Wow, thanks Scott. Sorry for my late reply. I don't come on here enough! Seize the Play!

Lifelong fan, glad to hear this story- had no idea. Looking for players who like to grab multiple blocks with one hand and looking for alternative rules, tokens, or rising pressures (horse: or high value play demanding medium follow-up) to help influence win state strategy. Is there an alt. Jenga community?
Love it! Thanks for the comment

Just bought a big wheel . To big to ride it but had to have it when I saw . It My most beloved bike out of all my bikes.
Have fun!
One very smart move that had Lionel bouncing back fast after World War 2 was their decision to keep the R&D department working full-steam-ahead even while production had been shut down. At the war's end they had a large well of new products ready to launch, leaning heavily on action features like the operating cars and scenery.
I love playing this game (the original 1960 version) as it is so much fun and has a lot of choices to make. Great channel here ❤️
Thanks Chad
hi seize the play
HI!
I still have my father's 1931 Lionel 262 engine and cars that my grandfather bought for him. Here in the Mid-Atlantic, we had a large German population. They brought the custom of putting decorations- Nativity Scenes, houses, barns, metal figures and animals - under the Christmas Tree. Note where Lionel was located, so soon Lionel Trains began appearing under the trees here along with the traditional Christmas scenes...
That's awesome. It's a multi-generational toy for sure!
Outstanding video
Thank you so much 😀
I bought Slinky toys for my nieces and nephews this year for Christmas presents. While looking at videos for how to make it walk down stairs I came upon this very cool historic video about the inventor and his wife. Thanks for the video and glad it's still made in Pennsylvania USA!
Love it! Thanks for the comment!
I lionel and i have hogwarts express and i have the lionel battery power train from learning curves and imaginarium. I want lionel super chief, gs4 daylight and acela
Imagine being fined $110 (todays money) for reckless bicycle riding
I know, right?
Have three Lionel Trains. Also a Lionel Battery Operated Polar Express. Like them for Christmas.
Well made good video. Only correction is that in 1957 it was the H.O. (Half O) sized trains which Lionel introduced into it's line-up which were smaller and cheaper than the larger O-gauge trains. Lionel had the patent for Super-O track way before but chose to NOT introduce it during the early 1950s as sales were still very good. As sales declined during the decade, the head honcho's wanted to try & increase sales. One tactic was the Super-O track which looked more realistic, for the top-end trains. At the other end of the product line, Lionel made the plastic AAR truck on it's cars along with the H.O. trains. None of these would actually "save" the day as Lionel later went bankrupt anyways. There is a cult-collector following of Super-O track today.
Thanks for the correction and the comment!
I’m on a board game and card game history binge. Love me some Uno.
Glad you found us! Sorry for the late reply
Thank you, Tim! You are extraordinary!
Super O was not smaller. It was top of the line, meant to be more realistic. 027 was the smaller line.
Thanks for the correction!
I remembered this game.
I got one in 1974 , I was 6 ,was monumental moment as a kid that’s forever etched in my memory .
wow it never dawned on me that the game Operation inspired kids to enter the medical field and then not only that inspired a device that helps surgeons be better surgeons! I love that backstory of Blurt!
Thank you, Tim! You really pulled together a lot of great stories for this keynote! Incredible!
Thanks Mary and thank you for sharing it.
